Heredity and Inheritance
MSUD is a autosomal recessive trait. It is present and birth and cannot be developed over time. It is most common in the Ashkenazi Jewish population. Approximately 1 in 81 Ashkenazi Jews are a carrier of MSUD. It can be very lethal if not treated correctly. Below there is a chart showing the punnet square results for the disease.
